Barangay San Lorenzo Business Association

Barangay San Lorenzo Business Association is a non-government, non-stock, non-profit membership organization composed of private business establishments registered in San Lorenzo. It serves to represent our private business sector, through the Makati Liga ng mga Barangay Business Development Council. (MLBBDC), in the Makati Business Development Council (MBDC).

 

About us

The creation of Barangay Business Association was initiated by the City Government of Makati in its effort to stimulate and promote businesses and employment in all Barangays of Makati. Thus, the Barangay San Lorenzo Business Association was incorporated in December 2004 in compliance with the Makati City Government’s directive. It aims to serve as our community’s vehicle for business synergy and growth.

It serves to represent our private business sector, through the Makati Liga ng mga Barangay Business Development Council. (MLBBDC), in the Makati Business Development Council (MBDC).

Barangay San Lorenzo Business Association works closely with Barangay San Lorenzo’s Business Development Council. The Association’s Board is composed of private businessmen and women from different industry sectors, as well as the Barangay Captain and selected Barangay Kagawad as ex-officio members.

About Barangay San Lorenzo

 

Barangay San Lorenzo (BSL) belongs to the 1st congressional district of Makati and is included under Cluster I or Central Cluster. It sits on one of the country’s prime pieces of real estate with a total land area of 1,734,100 square meters and an estimated population of 12,995 inhabitants. The population density of Barangay San Lorenzo is 7 persons per 1,000 square meters.

Barangay San Lorenzo is considered to be predominantly commercial in land use and hosts more than 8,000 business establishments ranging from small enterprises to head offices of corporate giants. It is also home to what is known as Makati Commercial Business District (MCBD) which is aptly represented by the country’s prominent malls, namely Glorietta and Greenbelt Malls.

Barangay San Lorenzo, in its current scope formed part of the original agricultural estate of the Ayala family, which was master/ planned after the Second World War. Barangay San Lorenzo in its present state is unique since it is composite of three private enclaves, namely

1) the purely residential San Lorenzo Village, composed of over 730 detached homes,

2) Legazpi Village, a residential/ commercial community composite of around 250 buildings ranging from low-rise to high-rise, and

3) Ayala Center which includes in coverage the two malls plus locators such as Shoe Mart, Landmark and 5-star hotels such as Makati Shangrila, Dusit Thani, Holiday Inn and New World.

Each one is governed by its own Association which is responsible for maintaining their respective common areas. Hence, mutually beneficial partnership and cooperation with these Associations is at the core of barangay governance. Furthermore, the daily presence of transient workers, visitors and tourists shapes whatever programs, projects and activities are deemed appropriate to sustain, peace, security and resilience of Barangay San Lorenzo as an ideal residential and business location.
